Lumber that is dried in a closed chamber in which the required moisture content (19% or less) is obtained by artificial heat and/or humidity control.

• Green Lumber

A generic term that refers to a type of siding in which one board overlaps the other. Siding of this type includes:

• Bevel
• Channel
• Pattern

Mildew

Mildew is a generic term for a variety of parasitic growths that appear as discoloration of a surface and ultimately degrade or destroy the material upon which they grow. The growth of these organisms is supported by moisture, temperature and organic material for food.

A board which contains a combination of flat grain and vertical grain.

• Flat grain
• Vertical grain

• Plain plywood has no grooves on its exposed face.
• 4" OC plywood has grooves 4 inches apart on its exposed face.
• 8" OC plywood has grooves 8 inches apart on its exposed face.

A process by which a square channel is routed out of the corner of a board to affect a tightly sealed corner with another board.

Lumber that is unprimed, unstained and otherwise untreated.

A board that is sawed so that is shows saw marks on the side to be exposed.

• Ruffer Head
• Smooth Face

A board that has been planed so that it is grooved lengthwise on the side to be exposed.

• Resawn Face
• Smooth Face
