REX House during siding installation

7/08 - Lakeside Lumber sponsors REX House

Lakeside Lumber was a presenting sponsor for the REX House, which is just about finished with construction. It is located in Portland’s Sellwood neighborhood. "REX" is an acronym which stands for "Reuse Everything Experiment." It is a novel project in that the previously dilapidated home was infused into the brand new structure. The object was to eliminate construction waste on the project, thus decreasing the impact on landfills, 50% of which are made up of construction debris. Since the original home was clad with a unique Pattern 115 siding, typical of many old Portland homes, we were asked to participate as we are the only company in the Portland Metro area which stocks that rare siding pattern.

Shannon Quimby is an HGTV personality who is the driving force behind this project. Read her blog at http://www.shannonquimby.com/rex/.
